SOS Culture is starting a series of Art History Trainings

Within the last two weeks SOS Culure project has introduced a course of trainings on Art History to its youh clubs. Anna Koltcova, the teacher of this course is an SOS Culture volunteer. Her educational background covers studying in places like Russia, Japan, USA. Currently Anna is enrolled in one of American Universities in Rome, Italy.

These trainings are designed to not only introduce youh club members to cultural heritage of different cultures and periods, but also teach them the language of art and analisys.

Art history training are tought in Russian, however, according to the course trainer Anna Koltcova “kids show a very high level of understanding of the material, and also are willing to ask questions, participate in discussions, and express their own opinion”.

The first series of trainings were held on the 19th and 21st of June in Akhtala and Alaverdi, and on the 25th and 27th of June in Berdavan and Varagavan. During the trainings youth club members have learned about prehistoric and Ancient Greek art, culture, history, religion, beliefs and traditions.

Next series of training will be focused on further history of Antiquiy, and will also be telling about the origins and evolution of christian art in different parts of the world.
