On May 16-18 German International Cooperation (GIZ) organized a training course on biodiversity in Stepanavan. It was designed for biology and ecology teachers as well as for facilitators who are involved in nonformal education and are interested in environment.

SOS Culture project trainer Eva Harutyunyan also participated in the training course. She said that those three days were full of interesting information, games and of new educational methods. Organizers were encouraging the participants to use those methods in their work with children.

Before we used to teach children to love nature, preserve it but we never talk about species and their importance in our life. Our trainer Martin taught us to be in harmony with nature, to love and respect each plant and animal. It was impressive to see him greeting animals and birds saying. “Hello eagle, hello dog, hello, spider…how are you?” When we started to greet our neighbours like our trainer we became more positive towards them. Now it is hard to let anyone to hurt them. I think this will be impressive for children too. I also liked working methods and I will practice them and use in different training course I design. In addition, GIZ also organizes various contests. Our youth club members will take part in some of them.

SOS Culture youth club members will have their training course on biodiversity and will prepare to participate in the upcoming contests.
