The members of SOS Culture youth club in Varagavan organized a small info campaign during the celebration of Varaga Surb Khach (Varaga Holy Cross). They had prepared posters informing people about the necessity to keep our environment and cultural assets clean.

Even before the celebration youth club members had started making posters with the slogans like: “Don’t spoil our nature”, “Don’t ignore our cultural assets”, “Let’s preserve our cultural monuments”.

The celebration of Varaga Holy Cross is celebrated each year, two weeks after the “Khachverac” holiday. This is a holiday devoted to the sacred relic which was founded in Varaga Mountain.

Youth club members have chosen this day, because on this particular day Nor Varagavanq hosts hundreds of pilgrims not only from different regions of Armenia, but also from abroad.

“Seeing young people who were united and equipped with posters, visitors were interested in the project. Many of them came close to the children to read the posters and were eager to learn more about the project. Members of the SOS Culture youth club were happy to talk about the project and introduce its aims”- told us the youth club coordinator in Varagavan Sargis Grigoryan.

Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Foundation of “Spiritual Revival” and Tavush Expatriate Union organized the pilgrimage to Nor Varagavanq. On the same day the relic was moved to Nor Varagavanq from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

Holy Liturgy was served in the Monastery followed by the “Andastan” order. Four sides of the historical Tavush region were blessed by the Lord`s cross. After the Liturgy a sacrificial blessing and cultural events took place.
