Summarizing the year in Akhtala youth club

On June 10th Akhtala SOS Culture youth club organized a wonderful event celebrating one year of the project. Many guests were invited to be present at the event. The room where the event took place was decorated with posters, pictures, brochures, certificates telling everyone the story of the SOS Culture project in the Akhtala community. All the guests received a warm welcome from young members and their local coordinator Tanya Paranyan. Among the guests were the mayor of Akhtala H. Khachikyan, the school director G. Chitchilyan, the priest of the Akhtala monastery Ter Vigen, the SOS Culture team, parents and municipality staff.

Young members started the event introducing the guests to the work that has been done during the whole year. They talked about the training courses, the summer camp and various events they have participated within the project. After the presentation some of the guests gave short speeches expressing their gratitude and mentioning the significance of the project not only for the personal development of young people living in the border regions, but also for the preservation of cultural heritage as well as for the community as a whole. Young people have also organized a small exhibition where all the guests could see very beautiful handmade gifts made by young members of Akhtala SOS Culture youth club.

The EU funded SOS Culture project that started in November 2011 after some preparation started its activities and trainings with youth clubs from June 2012. The project will continue with its activities until November 2013.
