On May 25th the European Delegation to Armenia invited everyone to celebrate Europe Day with various events that took place in Yerevan and other cities. Europe Day has been celebrated in Armenia since 2010. In the frame of the Europe Day the Round Table discussion with EU Member State Ambassadors took place which was a great opportunity to meet Ambassadors and have face-to-face conversations. Besides “My Scrapbook of Change” youth competition was organized to involve more young people who want to make positive change in Armenia.

The Europe Day celebration started with an Information Fair. The Europe Day Information Fair that took place on Northern Avenue hosted around 70 EU-funded projects which presented their work in diverse fields such as education, culture, environment, youth and many others. The Information Fair was accompanied by many different activities; workshops, dance, music performances, contests and games.

The SOS Culture project also participated in the Information Fair presenting the work which it had been doing for 1.5 years. All interested people could learn about the project through our leaflets, postcards, photos. SOS Culture also presented educational materials and touristic maps that were developed during the project. Especially visual materials presenting cultural assets in the border regions of Armenia and Georgia raised attention of many people who showed their interest in the project as a whole and in endangered cultural assets.

On this day the attendees had the opportunity to learn about the SOS Culture project directly from the implementers. For this special occasion also our Georgian project partner dvv international and SOS Culture project volunteers joined the Information Fair on the Northern Avenue. All together the SOS Culture team set up the table and welcomed guests and passersby. The Europe Day was a great event not only for presenting the project, but also for raising public awareness about the importance of the cultural assets that are in urgent need of protection and care.
