Churches of Goruli Ruined Village
Goruli ruined village is in Marneuli municipality, near Opreti village (coordinates: 41.155101 44.383254). Two churches, tower and the ruined of houses are preserved.
Upper church is a hall-type one; it was built in the 2nd half of the XVII c. Asomtavruli inscription of its south door mentioned Ksani Eristavi’s daughter Darejani, who built the church; master Papia – the builder of the church is also mentioned there. The church is built of crushed rocks, carvings are distributed around the door and windows; twisted and geometric ornaments predominate.
The church (XVII c.), preserved in the lower side of the ruined village is also built of crushed cliff rock; unlike the upper church, it’s less decorated; only the arcs above the windows are decorated. The church is a hall-type and has a small appendage from the north.
